Final Deer Work

leave a comment »

Just thought I should put up the final deer icon,

I worked with adding antlers and changing the pose, but they all looked awkward. This looked the most generically deer-like which is what I was going for.

Gregor Samsa’s Model Room

If Gregor Samsa, from Kafka's Metamorphosis was instead a doll.

It was a pretty ridiculous assignment, make a shoebox sized model of the bug's room.

Here is what I came up with.

More Figure Drawing

leave a comment »

Last night I went to another one of my schools open life drawing sessions. It was packed!

It's probably one of those things that builds momentum, and next week we won't be able to fit through the door.

Except three hours 'till ten on a wednesday is a bit much. I always skip the last pose.

Deer Icons

For one of my classes I had to make 20 reference sketches followed by 40 icon variations of deer,
which is exhausting. I'm numb from drawing that many of the same animal.

Nudes

My school offers cheap life drawing sessions wednesday nights and life painting sessions on saturdays, which is awesome!
It's great practice and there's a huge diversity of participants: alumni, students from all years, old people, it's great.
here's six of the twenty drawings I did in the three hours tonight.

Time consuming!

And my poor supply of ink. I only use ink for line work, so making an 18″x24″drawing with it was devastating. I mean, I don’t know. I think the painting turned out well, but its not my best work.
I’m not a big fan of these projects where you don’t actually have to do any thinking. Find a picture, copy that bitch. It just doesn’t feel very rewarding.

EDIT: It looks really flat too, I don’t like that. I mean, I’m not going to change it, but still.
